This is the first year David wore a costume for more than 3 minutes. It helps that he wants to play Toy Story all the time anyway, so this Woody costume had already seen some playtime action in the past week, long before trick or treating.
Norah wore this same costume last year and it still fit, so I figured, what the heck. Halloween is not my favorite holiday so I'm pretty loathe to spend a lot of extra cash on something that doesn't get much use. Plus it's still adorable. Bonus.
Rocking Norah to sleep. Reading Richard Scarry books with David. And working on collage. These are three things that, when I'm in the midst of them, there is nowhere else on the whole planet I'd rather be. And lucky me...I got to do all three today.
My paper piles have been laying dormant for a while. And then I, myself, was laying dormant for a while. And now I'm waking up to it again. The digging, the tiny cutting, the arranging and rearranging. I know I've mentioned before that I'm trying to incorporate more of my own patterns and drawings into my work, and it's really satisfying, but it also means everything takes about four times as long. The process takes on a new kind of plodding forward. I'm totally okay with that, too. It just means more fun for me.

I don't ever give enough credit here to the man who makes it all happen for our family. Thanks for everything you've done for us Mike, for how hard you work every day, and for picking up all my slack over the last 4 days. We love you.
What better to do with my laying in bed sick time than to window shop online and make fashion mood boards?
I know I don't NEED any of these things but I wouldn't turn them down if you bought them for me. In the meantime, I'll just do what I always do with stuff online... stalk them incessantly to see if they go on sale.

My sketchbook feels messier than usual. And not only because the kids scribble in it sometimes and half the pages are quick sketches of letters and Angry Birds and whatever else David and Norah request. It's just looser. I'm not trying hard for perfection, I'm just trying. I like the results less, but I think I'm learning something.
Also. I sort of hate when people talk about how they're sick. But guess what? I'm sick. And I wish my mommy was here to rub my back and bring me jello and let me watch Sleeping Beauty on the couch. Instead I'm the mommy. Being a grown up feels like a pretty raw deal today.
Do you let things pile up on your to-do list? Especially things like.... dentists appointments? (sad trombone.) And cleaning up all the pool toys that are STILL sitting in a bucket getting really gross in the backyard?
Yeah. Obviously, I do. I'm a horrible procrastinator and need a jump start/kick in the pants to accomplish tasks sometime. SO I decided that this is the week I check all those things off my list.

Sometimes I forget I have a blog. I mean, not really... but you know. Writing here just comes last some days. To all this other stuff.
I'm sweeping. Always sweeping. Cooking, baking: giant vats of homemade macaroni and cheese with broccoli, and mashed potatoes, and apple pies. Driving to preschool, and the zoo, and the gym, Starbucks, roller derby. Painting animals on the Noah's Ark wall for our new church nursery. Folding tiny t-shirts. Making sure the kids don't strangle each other. Throwing leaves in the air and yelling "LEAF PARTY!!!" (It's the newest craze sweeping the nation! Or at least the 2 smallest members of the Licht household.) Watching superhero movies with Mike. Reading. Drinking wine and drawing, a necessity for me at the end of each day.
Basically? I'm living the dream. I feel incredibly lucky for this little life of mine.
