On a long drive last weekend, Mike and I were talking (joking) about all my FEEEELIIINGS. He made a comment that he can tell how much I have on my mind by how many layers of paper there are in my journal pages. As in, "all these vintage papers piled up will certainly express everything I'm feeling right now!!" I love that Mike knows me better than I know myself sometimes. And, I'm glad I'm self-aware enough to recognize the humor in it.
Anyway, here you go: a bunch of layers of paper. I started with a sheet of notebook paper I'd journalled on, then built the collage on top. The notebook paper was a little too flimsy for a background, so I stapled a piece of leftover paper I'd test-printed some business cards on. Lately I've been running out of tape like crazy, so stapling everything together was more of a necessity than an aesthetic decision, but it works. I also thought that if I hadn't stapled the bottom part of the collage, you could lift it up to read the text underneath. Maybe a new way of hiding journalling? I think it's a technique I'll try sometime.
