Inspired a lot by these pattern Project Life journals by Ashley G, I decided to play around with my art journal / collage style artwork in a pocket page format. It's a fun diversion from making art in a sketchbook or on loose pages.
Also a nice way of keeping track of some of the things that are inspiring me right now (photocopies from A Hundred White Daffodils and Steal Like An Artist).
This has been a little side project I pick up for a few minutes here and there while working on other things, and I'm finding it easy to keep up with (so far.) I would like to incorporate more photos though so that's a goal for the next few pages.
Most of the materials I'm using here are vintage or hand-painted, but let me know if you have questions about sources or techniques.
This is perfection. And to answer your question (in one of your pictures), I think you have such a distinct style. I can tell when it was made by you. The way you cut your scraps, the way you glue them, there's visual depth to it. Your handwriting and cut out letters is your own, and the fact that you write on tags and scraps of paper is your thing, too. You always have "captions". Artists can't see their own styles because they see it so often. Back up a bit and take it all in, and you'll see it. :) You're so awesome, Katie!

You must have so much fun putting together your pages! I love every one of them.

I love your pages! The spread with orange and pink looks awesome. I had so much fun doing Project Life at the beginning of last year. I had been putting in my patterns too. I ordered the handbook page protectors at the beginning of January and haven't even opened the box. :( You've inspired me to try to start up again! First step, open the box...

thank you so much! I was thinking about this comment last night & it's so funny that you mention I have "captions" in my work. I learned design by working on the high school yearbook, and for years I worked as a textbook designer. a lot of captions in both of those things! maybe it's just a habit I've acquired without realizing it.
