I made this a long time ago and was never sure what to call it, how to photograph it, or whether or not to share it at all. But I think it's a good indication of the direction my collage work has been heading. And just looking at it makes me want to go back and work some more.
So: I'm calling it an artist's book. I photographed it in spreads and then details. And I'm sharing it with you, full book now and details tomorrow, 'cause otherwise this post would be so long no one would get to the end of it. :)
One bummer: David scribbled a little on the cover and I could never figure out a way to get rid of the ink or cover it up. That was definitely a lesson in "please put your nice art stuff away before kids get their hands on it."
See larger versions of the spreads on my flickr.
You slay me. Can I just take a moment to say how it makes me feel whenever I see you have posted? Well, it makes me sooo happy! And posts like this, well, I'm moved by the beauty, by the messages, by your amazing talent. I'm thrilled whenever you share your work and I can't wait for more and more and more.

Fantastic. Definitely an "artist's book". I love the lettering work and the message is definitely familiar to me as a mom of two littles. Thanks for the inspiration!

Hi Katie! This is such a lovely book! I enjoyed your interview with Sarah in the Pages & Paint online class. That's how I discovered your blog, and I'll be a regular visitor from now on. Thanks for sharing your inspiring story!

Love your book, Katie - I'm coming from pages and paint. It all just comes together so well. I'm looking forward to reading the next post, so I can find out more about the details. You've inspired me to start thinking about a series of pages rather than just individual sketches!

I saw this on pinterest a little after you probably posted it here and immediately repinned. It's just one of the most beautiful things I've seen in awhile. It's got such a strong design but is also beautiful because of it's vulnerability and the fact that so many men and women can connect with those feelings. well done, mama!
